Position Information

Position Title: Stitch Welder Operator

Location: Mount Uniacke, NS

Job Summary

As Stitch Welder Operator, you will operate and maintain the automated brazing robot that welds together steel studs and lintels for the production line assembly, including:

  • Unload component carts from Roll Former Operator and load stitch welder machine following sequencing list
  • Install insulation in layers between forms
  • Feed forms through machine and monitor movement through to the roller tables
  • Change braising wires and refuel machine as needed
  • Assist with other activities as required, including operating accessory former, material handling, general maintenance of shop

Who You Are

You are the right person for the job if you are a hardworking individual who will bring efficiency and ideas to the table to increase our output, capability, and quality. You have experience in a cold-formed steel or fabrication shop or sawmill and have operated metal presses, CNC machines, or other manufacturing production machinery. You are comfortable with computerized machinery and demonstrate a high degree of care and attention. Being very organized, you are great at planning your work to ensure that those who come next in the assembly process have what they need to be successful.

Your Skills & Abilities

  • Able to interpret shop drawings used to assemble steel stud wall panels
  • Must be able to use and read an Imperial unit tape measure
  • Take responsibility of the machine, keeping up with production and as well keeping it clean and in good working order
  • Reliable/punctual
  • Safety oriented
  • You have good attention to detail and take pride in your work.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unaided, occasionally up to 100lbs
  • Must have reliable transportation. There is no public transportation nearby
  • Must be willing and able to successfully achieve WHMIS, First Aid, Forklift, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) training certificates
  • Completion of high school (or GED equivalent) with one year in a production environment would be an asset
  • Must have CSA-approved safety footwear
